Homemade Bacon, Day 1.

Today I’m working on a new project. I’m gonna make some homemade bacon. This is my eighth or ninth time making bacon at home, and each time it’s tasted a little different. There are so many factors that you can control in each process, or part of the process, that you never know exactly what you’re going to end up with. And that’s kind of fun! OK, so here is the first step. I’ve bought four pieces of pork Pork belly. Each piece is about half a kilogram. So I dried them off with paper towels, and then made a spice mixture to put on top of them. The spice mixture is made of Himalayan rock salt, black pepper, garlic powder, brown sugar, And crushed laurel. Are used dry laurel leaves and just crushed them with my fingers before adding it to the spice mixture. The laurel is new for this time I’m really looking forward to seeing how that will affect the taste.
